The Excavation Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in an efficient manner, supervises and troubleshoots routine issues that occur on the job site, and ensures safety rules are always followed.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Coordinate tasks with site Superintendent and the Project Manager working according to priorities and plans
  • Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew, for accurate completion of Field Log for payroll
  • Allocate general and daily responsibilities on the worksite for work crew
  • Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
  • Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
  • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
  • Resolve problems when they arise • Report on progress to managers, engineers etc.
  • As the point of reference of both workers and supervisors, you will be a key person for the completion of a project

Required Skills / Abilities
  • Proven experience as construction foreman
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment
  • OSHA 10 certification • Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with workers on site and report project status and issues that may arise to the job Superintendent and Project Manager
  • Aptitude in math
  • Problem-solving abilities

Education and Experience / Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Foreman role in Public or Private Works

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
